Hello, world (or: why the helmet)
First transmission from behind the visor. What this blog is, and why the face stays hidden.
Hello, world.
Every programmer's first program says it, so it felt rude not to. This is the personal lab notebook of dr.hackenbacker: a place for notes on AI, machine learning, computers, and the three-pound wet computer sitting between our ears.
About the "dr."
Let's get this out of the way: I am not a doctor. Not a medical one, not a PhD one, not even the kind who fixes printers (well, sometimes). The title is honorary, self-awarded, and holds up about as well as a model evaluated on its own training set. Please do not ask me to look at your rash.
Why the helmet?
Some musicians famously performed behind helmets and let the work do the talking. I like that idea. No face, no résumé, no personal brand. Just signal.
So the visor stays down. If an idea here is good, it's good on its own. If it's wrong, you can tell me it's wrong without worrying about whose feelings you're hurting. That's how it should work anyway.
What you'll find here
- AI & ML - models, training tricks, things that broke, things that surprisingly didn't.
- Computers - hardware, software, and the occasional rabbit hole.
- The brain - neurons, networks, and where the biological and artificial versions rhyme (and where they really don't).
Posts will be irregular, curious, and probably a little too excited about gradient descent.
Neurons that fire together, wire together. Readers who subscribe together... get the RSS feed.
Visor down. Lights on. Let's build something.
